Simulation Control Panel Guide

The Simulation Control Panel allows you to manage and control your simulations in real-time, providing an immersive and dynamic learning experience for your students.

Accessing the Simulation Control Panel

  1. Create a new activity selecting the Simulation experience, as this is the only experience that enables access to the simulation control panel. For more information on how to create an activity please refer to our Activities Guide.
  2. Navigate to the simulation activity you want to control, and select the Simulation Control panel button to the right of the activity.
  3. You are now in the Simulation Control Panel, read the (Using the Simulation Control Panel) section below for more information on using the panel.

Using the Simulation Control Panel

  1. Students can join the simulation by accessing the activity from their homepage under the corresponding course. Ensure they are enrolled in the course so they can see the simulation activity.
  2. Click on the green "Start Simulation" button to begin your simulation.
  3. Set the start time for your simulation. This controls the clock students will see during the simulation.
  4. Name your simulation for easy reference later.
  5. Once you start the simulation, you'll receive a notification at the top right of your screen.
  6. The Simulation Control Panel offers the following features:
    ⏸️ Pause and Resume:
Pause the clock for teachable moments. All simulations will pause, and students will see a blue notification. Resume with one click when ready.
    ⏩ Fast Forward Time:
Use Time Warp to advance the simulation clock for returning or long-term patients. Students receive a notification when time is moved forward.
    🎬 Trigger Events:
Release pre-built events or add new information by charting in the patient's record during the simulation. Both methods send students a blue notification. Pre-Built events can be added in a patients template. See our Patient Template help page for more information on adding pre-built events to a template patient.
    πŸ”„ Reset Simulation:
Reset your simulation with one click for a new group of students, clearing all past data.
  7. After reset, you can review all past simulations at any time by clicking the "Select a Simulation Run" dropdown box on the top left of the panel.
